Day 9 Food Reboot

Unique Events for the Day:  Found out my pineapple went bad & got mold all around the back side.  I’ll have to remember to buy pineapple as I need it & not to store it in the corner of my kitchen.  I’m also finding that nuts digest for me whenever I chew thoroughly, have a handful (maybe 2 at the most), or have with other food.

Waking Up:  Went to bed at 11:30pm & got up at 6:05am with the right leg / buttock area of inflammation with shooting pains – however it’s getting better.  At this point I’ll assume the Metamucil will be fully digested & released today.

Chiropractor: Head weights 2X per day (10 min. each) + Denny roll 2X (20 min. each) – morning & evening.

Morning Physical Symptom Check:  My normal stiff lower & less mid-back (less than moderate stiffness), turning my head all the way to the right I feel a tiny bit sore.  Shooting pains tend to happen whenever I get out of bed for an extended period of time or complete the Denny roll.  However, this pain goes away after about a minute of walking.

Smoothie Recipe (Banana Smoothie Recipe)

I’m still waiting on my papaya to ripen.  I think it’s 4 days & ends up being around 6 or 7.  Time to substitute…

•1 banana, peeled
•2 mangos, peeled and pitted
•2 Cups Dinosaur Kale, 1 Cup spinach
• Strawberries (handful)
• Almond Butter (1 Tbsp)
•3 to 4 ounces of filtered water
• Bee Pollen (1 Tbsp)

Synopsis of Smoothie:  I tend to find the berry & banana/mango/papaya mix quite well.  Next time I’ll try 1 mango as it’s a bit too sweet.  Made 2-2 1/2 glassfuls.

Good Belly Update:  The Good Belly that contains 20 Billion Probiotics per serving definitely tastes better (I am using the Pomegranate) than the Big Shot.  For me, I still want to get back right on the Big Shot as soon as I can.

Lunch Menu:  Fish with Mexican Salad (Tijuana Flats)
  • Rainbow Swiss Chard (1 Leaf) – I added
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Pico De Gallo
  • Avocado / Guacamole
  • Pieces of Grouper
  • Black Olive
  • Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette (On the Side)
  • Red Onion
  • Walnuts (Handful) + Some Macadamia Nuts & Almonds
NOTE:  Heavily modified meal that took them 10 extra minutes to wrap their head around & prepare.  When you go to Tijuana Flats, ask them for a Fish Salad and tell them the ingredients I listed above.

Dinner Menu: Tomato Soup (Cold) + Kale / Avocado Salad

Kale Salad

  • 2 cups kale
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium carrot, shredded
  • 2 Capri, sliced or other tomato
Directions:  Shred Kale & mix with avocado.  Then mix in the lime juice.  Add the pepper, carrot, and any other vegetable you want.

Spicy Red Pepper Soup (Blend all ingredients below for 30+ seconds)

  • 2 large red peppers
  • 4 Campari tomatoes
  • 1/2 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 large cucumber, peeled
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 mango, peeled and deseeded
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons chili powder (or cayenne to make it hot)
Synopsis of Meal:  The salad was pretty good, but I will add some fruit here, pepper and some dressing.  As for the soup, I have a real issue with cold soup – it’s not my thing.  This meal solidified my thought.  I have 1/2 of the soup left and I’ll reheat it to see how it tastes.

Evening inflammation check:  Right thigh & right buttocks area with shooting pains when I twist. Pain is less than yesterday (3-4 out of 10) with the continuation of shooting pain. Stiffness in lower back – not bad, but noticeable.
Digestion:  Gas and bloating are under control.  When it comes & goes, I can manage it better.

Day 7 Food Reboot

Waking Up:  Went to bed at 11:30pm & got up at 6:00am with the right leg / buttock area of inflammation. Gas issues have subsided, but there was a bathroom incident this morning.  I’m hoping that will be the last one.

Chiropractor: Head weights 2X per day (10 min. each) + Denny roll 2X (20 min. each) – morning & evening.

Morning Physical Symptom Check:  My normal stiff lower & less mid-back (less than moderate stiffness), turning my head all the way to the left I feel a tiny bit sore.  I did get shooting pains from my right hip as I got out of bed.  But it subsided as I walked about a minuted. I took my Enbrel shot this morning (normally take 2X per week) & can feel congestion in my nose after I took it (quite mild, but noticeable).

Smoothie Recipe (Blueberry-Banana Smoothie Recipe)

•2 cups frozen blueberries – subbed 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup strawberries, & the rest in frozen blackberries & raspberries
•3 large bananas, peeled (I use 2)
•4 cups spinach, chopped
• Almond Butter (1 Tbsp) – I added to recipe
• Cinnamon (1 Teaspoon) – I added to recipe
•4 to 6 ounces of filtered water
• Bee Pollen (1 Tablespoon)

Synopsis of Smoothie:  Now that’s the stuff!  Hands down the BEST smoothie of the bunch.  Next time, try with 1 banana as it’s too sweet.  Makes 2 1/2 Glass-fulls.  After doing this for 7 days, I’ve noticed that my body only really wants around 1 1/2 Glass-fulls.  Maybe I’m drinking too fast or maybe I should just drink 1 1/2 Glass-fulls?

Lunch Menu:  Cooked + Raw Tomato & Balsamic Salad
  • Tomato Sauce Leftovers of Cheezy Cannellonis (Refer Back to Day 5)
  • Pineapple Slice
  • Cherry Tomatoes (2 handfuls)
  • Broccolli, Sweet Pepper & Tomato Sauce (look at 1st bullet point) cooked
  • Carrot (1)
  • Celery Stalk (2)
  • Kale (3 Leaves)
  • Swiss Chard (1 Leaf)
  • Sunflower Sprouts
  • Aged Balsamic Vinagrette
  • Dried Figs (2)
  • Walnuts (Handful)
  • Almonds (Handful)

Dinner Menu: Salmon with Broccoli & Asparagus (Watermark Grill)

  • Salmon Grilled
  • Asparagus (steamed)
  • Broccoli (steamed)
NOTE:  I forgot to take my digestive enzyme & HCL.  This is the 1st time I’ve missed that.

Gas & Bloating Issue 2nd Day Test

I now take Metamucil (instead of Konsyl) 1st thing in the morning & 1 hour before dinner.  If bloating continues at mid-day and/or when bloating / gas is bad, I will take another dosage.  However, it wasn’t bad today except for a few brief times.

Evening inflammation check:  Right thigh & right buttocks area with shooting pains when I twist to the left. Stiffness in lower back.
Digestion:  Much better than previous days.
Neck Issue Check (Evening):  Dull pain in the right area, but I’m able to fully function as normal.

At the end of the night I had to teach WordPress to a new client /  organization (WNOCC) at Whole Foods.  I wanted to pick up the Good Belly Big Shot but the distributor is all out.  I hope to find some tomorrow as I don’t want to skip any days on with my probiotics.

Day 4 Food Reboot

Waking Up:  Went to bed around 10pm-10:30pm last night woke up at 3:30am, went to the bathroom (I have to check my future water intake after 7pm).  I got up at 7am.

Morning Physical Symptom Check:  Overall stiff & sore body, but not horrible.  I’d give it a 3 on a scale of 1-10 (10 is worst).  Some inflammation behind right thigh, left hip.  Stiff mid-back & sore neck.  Range of motion is there, but if I turn my neck to the left too much, I get a dull shooting pain.  Lastly, the flatulence continued throughout the night & some in the morning.  Alas, beans don’t look good in my future.

Smoothie Recipe (Peach Mango Smoothie Recipe)

• 3 organic peaches, pitted
• 2 bananas, peeled (subbing 1)
• 1 large mango, pitted and peeled
• 4 cups organic Swiss chard, chopped
• 6 to 8 ounces filtered water
• Bee Pollen (1 Tablespoon)
• Spinach (1 1/2 handfuls)

Synopsis of Smoothie:  Overall good, even smoothie.    2 1/2 Glass-fulls.  I’d try again & reduce the peaches to 2.
Food for Next Week:
Went to the local farmers market at:
North Naples Green Market
Indoor Summer Market – May to October 8am-1pm, Olympia Park, 2320 Vanderbilt Beach Road
Outdoor Winter Market.– November to April, 8am-1pm, Coconut Point Green Market
239-594-9358
Although it was packed, I bought most of my food for next week.  The place most people flocked to (and I got most of my USDA Organic food from) was Worden Farm.  They’re located in Punta Gorda.  So I should be able to find them up in the Venice & Sarasota area.  Then headed to Costco & Publix to pick up what I couldn’t find there in bulk.  Unless listed below, all items are USDA Organic:
Half of weekly food on raw diet

Fruit
Lime (2 small)
Mangoes (5) – bought 9 at Costco & not organic.
Pineapple (1 small)
Bananas (6 medium) – not organic
Papaya (1 large)  – bought at Costco & not organic.

Campari tomatoes (25) – bought at Costco & not organic.
Large Tomatoes (3)
Red onion (1 small)
Avocado (2)

Lunch Menu:  Pineapple Shrimp Salad (Bajio)

image

  • Pineapple juice sauteed with shrimp
  • Lettuce
  • Pico De Gallo
  • Mango Salsa
  • Corn (small amount)
  • Sauteed onion
  • Cilantro

Mid-day snack:  None.  But I did drink carrot & acai juice with my Konsyl fiber supplement.

Dinner Menu: Tuna Salad Sandwich + Holy Yamoli Sandwich (Food & Thought)

After the bean issues I’ve been having all day, the last thing I wanted was anything near the bean category.  After some back & forth with the staff, we found something that I could eat that was raw + part of the NSD.  Sandwiches wrapped in collard green leaves.  I’ll have to remember this for future lunches.

NOTE:  Yams are high in starch.  Next time remove this when ordering.

Evening inflammation check:  Back of right thigh, right hip & left hip little inflammation.  It was noticeable to other people when I went ballroom dancing.  However, I was able to dance (and improve throughout the night) all night.

Digestion:  Flatulence reduced throughout the day as the cannelloni beans were getting fully digested in my system.

Neck Issue Check (Evening):  Almost healed.  Only notice when I turn my head to the right.  I will continue the head weights / Denny roll tomorrow.  I’ve only been using the head weights once (or today none) in the past few days.

NOTE:  I am finishing the evening portion of the post around 11:30pm.  So the inflammation effects, feeling tired, etc. should be better tomorrow unless the starch in the yams did it in for me.
